Bay State Jaguars ’17 Veronica Burton is off to a great start of her high school season – Keep it up V!!!

Excerpt from Cream of the Crop:

Simply put it is not whether star junior Veronica Burton will be considered the best player in the state…it is just a matter of will it be this year or next. You might even be able to make a case right now that she is the top player. She was brilliant yesterday in leading her team to a comeback win over Andover by outscoring them by 20 points in the 2nd half. Burton did a LOT of everything. I had her for 20 points with 5 threes, grabbed 14 rebounds, had 5 assists, and made 5 steals. Simply awesome! She has been named a Herald All Scholastic and was the only sophomore to be named to the Herald or Globe teams last year. She was named Dual County League Large MVP last year and was co-MVP with teammate Emily Chang the season before. She averaged 20 points and 10 boards per contest last year and led her team in scoring, rebounding, assists, and steals. If Cambridge never sees Burton again it will be too soon. She torched them scoring 41 at Cambridge and then 34 when they met in Newton. L-S is another favorite and she hit them for 28 and 19 points after killing them last year. “V” also had games scoring 30,26, 24, 22 and 21 with 10 rebounds and 6 assists. The scoring always gets mentioned just like I did in the preceding sentence but her best attribute is probably her ball handling skills as those are off the charts in my eyes. This kid goes behind her back and between her legs like she has been practicing it since birth. She is a terrific talent and still with 2 more high school seasons to go. What a great future for this kid and I am sure she will be following her two older sisters who both played D1 college ball. I am guessing tons of D1 college coaches will be fighting to get this kid to play for their school over the next few years. I even saw her wearing a Michigan sweatshirt at a game last year…hmmm…
