The Bay State Jaguars are excited to announce that Mark Giovino will be taking over as our 13U/7th Grade Boys’ Coach beginning this fall.
Mark’s prior basketball experience includes serving for six years as an assistant college basketball coach with the last two years at Holy Cross College in Worcester. During the 2002-2003 season Mark was a part of the coaching staff that helped lead Holy Cross to 26-5 record, Patriot League Championship and NCAA first round game against eventual Final Four participant Marquette. While at Holy Cross, Mark’s responsibilities included recruiting, game scouting, individual player development, and academic monitoring.
While coaching as an assistant coach at Lasell College, Worcester State, and Holy Cross, Mark started and ran his own basketball camps – “Shooting Straight Basketball Clinics” - teaching young student athletes the lessons, skills, and individual instruction needed to improve and mature as both young players and young students. Mark also lectured and spoke at summer basketball camps throughout New England.
Mark played college basketball at Babson College. He graduated in 1998 as the school’s all-time leader in 3 pointers in a career, a season, and a game. Mark led the nation for all Divisions in free throw shooting percentage his Junior year at 94.5%.
